Not For Sale

Not For Sale

Isaiah 55:1  … buy, …without money

The prophet Isaiah invites all who are athirst to come and “buy wine and milk without money and without price.”

It is free to whosoever will come and receive it.

In Romans 4:5. Paul says, But to him that worketh not, but believeth If there is one thing which is clear in the Bible, it is the fact that salvation is the free gift of God’s grace.  It cannot be earned, merited, or bought.  An old man said that it took him forty years to learn three simple things.  The first was that he couldn’t do anything to be saved; second, that God didn’t expect him to; and third, that Christ had done it all and all he needed to do was accept it.

I read somewhere a touching story which will illustrate this great truth.  On a cold winter’s day a poor woman stood before the window of the king’s conservatory looking eagerly at a cluster of luscious grapes. She had a sick child and this poor mother wished that she could cheer her with this fruit.  She went home, worked day and night making a blanket, sold it for a small sum, and offered the king’s gardener the few coins for a bunch of grapes, but was driven away. She went home, snatched her blanket from her bed, pawned it for a few coins, and again offered it to the gardener and again was driven away.  But the princess walking through the garden heard it, and said “ You have made a mistake, madam.  My father is not a merchant, but a king.  His business is not to sell, but to give.”  And so saying, she plucked the largest cluster of grapes and with a smile gave it to the poor woman.

Our God is not a merchant but a King!  His salvation is not for sale- but free!

 Nor silver nor gold hath obtained my redemption,

Nor riches of earth could have saved my poor soul;

The blood of the cross is my only foundation,

The death of my Saviour now maketh me whole,

I am redeemed, but not with silver;

I am bought, but not with gold;

Bought with a price, the blood of Jesus,

Precious price of love untold/font>
