The Enmity

By

In the ages before the fall, God had already planned
The only hope for eternity and rebellious fallen man
This was not with trimmings or gifts beneath a tree
Nor a veneer of a children lie taught to you and me
Devils do delight in Santa Claus I am sure
For this usurper's hides, sin's only cure
But it makes the children happy the excuse for this lie
And later on they can judge of why the Babe did die
But before you turn away and say I must be mean
Let see the parallels of this blinding scheme
They both appear on Christmas Day
One in a manger and one on sleigh
The one is helpless and all he does is sleeps
The other can ascend as the children peep
The Babe can give nothing but wise men give him gold
The other has toys and treasures and a bag of coal

The one is all knowing as only God can be
For he knows our behaviour by gifts beneath the tree
The babe knows nothing except Mary's breast near by
A cute little creature that goo's and coos and cries
The jolly one knows all the world and the hearts of men
And God it never mention my our ageless friend
The children write him letters and sit upon his lap
And trust him for their needs, as the Babe takes a nap

And with each passing Christmas, Santa is displayed
For the civil authorities will not take him away
But mention the Christ Child for which the day is called
And voices of religious bigotry fill judicial halls
We will not have this Babe, to remind us of this day
For children need Santa's toys for which they beg and pray
Who needs Merry Christmas, season greetings will do
And Xmas is more meaningful than a day for a Jew
The enmity is plainly seen by we who know the Verse
And can see the only hope for peace and good will on earth
It makes the children happy the excuse for the lie
And later on they can judge why the Babe did die
Yet God will not share his glory to a demon dressed in red
Who can not forgive your sins nor raise you from the dead

John 10:9 I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture.
